Registration of a divorce in Indonesia
Every divorced person in Indonesia will usually need a court decision/divorce decree (Putusan Pengadilan) document and a divorce certificate (Akta Perceraian). A legalization process is needed in Indonesia so that the document can be used abroad.
If the divorce has been pronounced by the Religious Court (Pengadilan Agama), the certificate and decree must be certified first by the Supreme Court (Mahkamah Agung), before being legalized by the Indonesian Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kementerian Hukum dan HAM) and by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kementerian Luar Negeri).
If the divorce has been pronounced by the District Court (Pengadilan Negeri), the certificate and decree must be legalized by the Indonesian Ministry of Law and Human Rights and by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
